I promise, I don’t just sit around searching for new decks to drool over, but sometimes they fall into my lap (and sometimes my enabler friend puts them in front of my face and I just can’t look away until I’ve spent money — thanks, Irmata!). Right now, there are two decks on Kickstarter that I am absolutely BONKERS about, so of course I’m going to share them with you!
#1 – Slow Holler Tarot
Slow Holler Tarot is freaking GORGEOUS
I mean… holy effing CRAP!!
This deck is a collaborative effort, and you can just tell that it’s being made with the utmost love, passion, and care. Check out the Kickstarter video and then throw your money at the project so that it can exist and I can OWN IT.
#2 – Tarot of Brass and Steam
The Magician & The Devil | Tarot of Brass and Steam
This is a steampunk deck, and it’s an interesting combination of creative vision and commissioned artwork. But DAMN it’s looking good. I mean: Nikola Tesla is The Magician and Thomas Edison is The Devil. DUDES. Dudes. Just… please, go look at more of this awesomeness, and then throw your money at the project so that it can exist and I can OWN IT.
Wow, are you actually still HERE, and not going GAGA over those decks?!
Sometimes I come across art for tarot cards that is just go gorgeous I choke on my own spit. And then I panic inside because I want the deck so badly and then realize it’s not available. I’ve been seeing a lot of this lately, so I thought I’d post another collection of things I’ve seen around the internet (see my first round of this here, and my second one here).
Untitled Deck by Jacinthe
This is one I found just randomly browsing and I really enjoy the art style! Looks like these are still WIPs, and the artist doesn’t have too many cards made yet, but I really hope she continues, because I love the look of it so far! See the entire gallery here.
Untitled Deck by Zsofia Dome
I first saw the Death card (picture above, on the right) and very, very intrigued. Then I saw the rest of the gallery and fell in love! I mean, honestly, I would buy this deck in both forms: b&w lineart and the colored version, because HOLY SHIT is it gorgeous or what?! See the whole gallery here.
Untitled Deck by Questing Raven
I first came across the High Priestess (middle) image and was very intrigued. It reminds me so much of the Two of Arrows in the Wildwood Tarot, and that’s always been one of my favorite cards in that deck. This artist isn’t very far along in a tarot series, but I love this one so much I had to include it here. See the rest of his gallery here.

Untitled Deck by Sceith Ailm
I think I came across the Death card during a random image search for the Death card. Apparently this artwork is heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings, which is much more obvious in some of the other cards. Isn’t the artwork just incredibly gorgeous and fabulous?! It looks like, so far, she’s only gotten up to The Devil, but I really hope that eventually she makes it through all 78 cards, became DAMN. (See the whole gallery).
Untitled Deck by Poisoncage
HNNNNNGGGG! I mean! oh my god, just LOOK at this artwork! I am SUCH a sucker for anime artwork and this is just fantastic. Okay, I’m kind of cheating with this one, because apparently she’s selling the Major Arcana, but it appears she’s working on the Minor Arcana and hasn’t gotten very far yet. SO. (YES, I pre-ordered it!) If you want to see more, check out her gallery, or you can pre-order the Major Arcana here (English or Italian available).
Cerebium Tarot by Hedrick CS
I aboslutely LOVE this art style, because it feels like these characters are just climbing right out of a (very rich and imaginative) Japanese video game. I freaking… I want EVERYTHING about this. I want the deck. I want it to be a video game. I WANT IT ALL! Apparently the cards go along with a novel the artist is working on, called Cerebium Sparks. I WANT THAT TOO. (See the gallery here.)
AEDICULA ARCANORUM, by Reinhard Schmid
I first saw The Moon and absolutely fell in love. It’s been my desktop wallpaper for a long time now. As far as I can tell, he doesn’t plan to publish this any time soon. Man, I’d probably buy a deck of just the Major Arcana, even though I prefer to have the whole 78-card deck usually. What I wouldn’t give for an entire deck like this! (See the entire gallery.)
Untitled Deck, by Mark Simmons
The first I saw was Death and the colors drew me in something fierce. I love the painterly quality of the illustrations, and I really could just stare at Death for days. I also like that the Devil has goaty pupils. I wish he’d do more, but apparently tarot isn’t his focus. (See more of his work.)
Untitled Deck, by Joanna (aka Rainbow of Crazy)
I can’t remember how I first found this deck (maybe searching for “tarot” on Etsy?), but as soon as I saw The Lovers, I knew I wanted this deck. I was reunited with this artist again today, randomly searching “tarot” on wordpress, when I came upon her post for the Ace of Pentacles card. Isn’t it just perfect and gorgeous?! I really hope she finished this deck, so I can buy it. And by now, she probably thinks I’m some sort of stalker. I swear, I’m just in love with her art! Very much so! (See more on her blog and her Etsy shop!)
